The Japanese have consumed restructured alkaline water using electrolysis for well over 40 years. The health merits of this water type are well accepted throughout Japan, as reflected by the many dozens of alkali-ion drink products available. Competition, of course, is fierce.
This series of posters were designed for Alkali Ion Water to coincide with the drink’s official sponsorship of the Japanese World Cup soccer team. Simple, cl
ean, yet highly evocative, the designs are conceptualised as medical specimens of various human body parts. Made using water sourced from the famed Mount Fuji, Alkali Ion Water has an alkaline level that is near identical to that of our own bodies. Intricately illustrated blood vessels – faithfully recreated using medical references – visually communicate this correlation, while the drink’s blue identity is adopted for further brand emphasis. By establishing this symbolic link between blood and Alkali Ion Water, the posters suggestively demonstrates how the drink enables health-conscious living by penetrating and replenishing the body with vital supply of energy.
Direct impact of the communication exercise resulted in a dramatic rise of sales. And despite fierce market competition, Alkali Ion Water achieved 139% year-over-year growth.
